I was born in South Yorkshire and have lived here all my life.
I started as a nursing cadet when I left school and all my working life has been spent as a nurse. I retired recently as a Senior Sister in Intensive Care, I still do the odd shift to cover when the unit is busy.
I have been married to Tony for 42 years. He is a medicar driver, but has spent most of his working life working for T.C.Harrison Ford dealer as a spray painter.
We have one son Adrian who is an Emergency Care Practitioner in Sheffield, that is a Paramedic who has done another university based year gaining a qualification to treat patients in their own homes instead of having to transport them to hospital by ambulance. Adrian is single, but getting married to Teresa who is also a nurse next year.
I am a big believer in "If you want to do some thing, go for it" I didn't know anything about computers when ITU went computerised and i was fed up with the young whiz kid male nurses teasing me when I had to ask them "what do I do next ".
I joined the local collage on a flextime course and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ended up after a few years with a teaching qualification and the offer of a teaching job (which I turned down) at the collage that taught me.
I now spend my time crafting, lunching with my friends, gardening, and lastly tracing my family tree, which is fascinating, frustrating but very addictive
